The voice of the sea speaks to the Soul
-Kate Chopin.
I have sent off the first challenge page for one of my friend's in the Stitching group, and now that i know it has arrived I can share with you. It is for Joan who chose a Sea theme for her book and the colours DMC 340, 517. 791. 807.
3765, 3847 I used all but one of the suggested shades. The little sea horse was made using the slip method where it is stitched on one piece of fabric and then mounted on another. I use this method a lot specially for birds as if the one I am stitching does not turn out quite to my liking I can discard it with out spoiling the piece.
This piece which is on the wall above my computer, and was the first time I had stitched using this method. It was stitched many years ago and I have favoured this method many times since.

Lee that us just amazing. Love the seahorse. The birds just as pretty.
Hi Lee, thank you for you lovely comment.
What a beautiful seahorse , such a lovely colours for it.
The birds are so realistic.Lee do I understand it right that you stitch the birds first on a calico fabric and then you stitch the piece on a piece of cross stitch linen?
Lovely work as always.
Have a nice stitching time.
Evelyne
Love your seahorse you stitched Lee, the colours are lovely. My mother "found" stumpwork when she was in her 80's and loved the birds, so set about and started stitching some amazing pictures of birds. I have a few framed pictures of her beautiful work and so do my sisters. She made me a beautiful scissor scabbard with an owl on it and a circle pin keep with a dragonfly on it.They are in a position where I can see them every day and smile at the incredible fine work like your work that she did. I do enjoy seeing your embroidery. Shirley
I am in awe of both the seahorse and your birds, Lee--how exquisite!
Oh my goodness, Lee! The birds have left me speechless! They're incredible...they look like they could just fly off the linen page.
