POCKET FOR TITANIA

ANZEG Conference ( Association New Zealand Embroiderers' Guilds) is now only three weeks away. This week I have been writing the notes for the two workshops I am teaching there....... along with stitching a couple of extra pieces. I enjoy writing the notes for workshops and  find  its amazing what the computor can produce but the best bit is the designing.

This is the piece for the one day workshop I have on the Monday..... "Pocket for Titania."

I have completed two further pockets to show that the basic idea could be taken further and one does not have to stitch bullion stitches rose!.

"Pocket for a Mermaid" is on blue linen that I dyed. Did not come out quite the colour I expected but I am pleased with the finished result. I hope to be able to post photo of it soon.

Today I finished one for the " Snow Queen" white, silver and a tiny touches of blues. My mind is full of ideas now but I must move on to other things.

 My second workshop is a three day one " Shades of Monet" a count thread mat using Jane Van Keulin's lovely linen and threads dyed to match.  You can see it on the Confernce web site.

STITCHING FRIENDS CHALLENGE

Stitching Friends group current challenge is " Stitch a heart in any technique we wish on a small item of our own choice"   I have stitched a bigger heart after the style of the small hearts I stitched before, this one is 7 x 6cm.

Again I have used some of my tea dyed linen (40 count ) perle 12 thread for all the stitching and the edging is needlemade lace loops. Petite beads finish the piece.

This time I have filled it with lavender so it could hang in a wardrobe or be tucked in an embroidery work bag.

BASKET OF ROSES

This is what I stitched for my March brides Tree SAL, the theme was- Flower or Flower Basket -representing  good wishes, beauty in the home. The basket is cross stitched from a very old chart, source unknown using one of Jane Van Kuelin's hand dyed tencil thread, and I have filled the basket with bullion Stitch Roses, stitched with perle 12.

I hope all the pieces I stitch for this SAL will have special memories for me.

My mother taught me to stitch these roses as a teenager, many years ago and so This piece brings to me memories of her and how much she loved  her garden.

ROSES FOR RACHEL

The Hussif is finished.
I have named it for the Exhibition as "ROSES FOR RACHEL"
Red is her favourite colour and the outer material matches a piece I have done for her previously. The inside is decorated with Bullion Stitch Roses,
I think the bullion stitch roses were some of the earliest things I learnt to stitch, taught by my mother.

Here is a close up showing some of the pieces that go in the pockets...Floss Ring tab, Pin keep and Tape measure. All the material on the inside is silk.

And a close up of the top of the hussif, it all rolls up for easy carrying.
In my hurry to pack it up for delivery the last photo of the hussif rolled up did not come out well it looks a bit screwed up!!!!
